So, after having the Thor intake installed for a few months now, I am wondering if anyone else has been monitoring their intake air temps? I'm running a scan gauge and seeing intake air temps in the 130* range with ambient air temps of 65*. From a cold start in the morning at around 45-50 degree ambient air temps, once I'm moving on the freeway and engine temps are up to 200ish, I see sub 100 degree intake air temps. If I stop at a light, it jumps to 130. Now, when the weather was still hot last month (this is southern California after all), I was seeing temps climb to 160 degrees. This is obviously an issue. Clearly the intake is getting heat soaked from running over the valve cover. I even tried wrapping it in header wrap, which made maybe a ten degree difference. Anyone else seeing this happen? I'm seriously questioning the design of this intake. I'm leaning towards yanking it and putting a K&N in. Anyone measured intake temps on the K&N?
Just in case anyone is wondering, engine runs nice and perfect temp wise between 195-210 depending. New e-fan pulls hard, fan clutch is fine, new spectra radiator and hoses, however I am using the Hyline hood vents, so a lot of my engine bay heat is pushed up and out of those. Who knows if that's causing issues with the heat soak of the intake.
What kind of temps are you folks seeing on anything and everything from stock air box to aftermarket?

That is not surprising. You have a lot of metal duct work with the Thor. You might need to wrap it to get those temps down
The last solution I would give you to removing this issue is to techline cermakrome the inside and outside of the metal pipe. I doubt this would really completely remove this problem though, just my solution. I think this is a losing battle though because Thor doesn't have a bad design in my opinion there is just no way to put an intake somewhere where it isn't going to get burnt up. If you try to act as if you're one of their designers they are clearly moving the thor intake as far awake from the exhaust as possible. Unlike K&N who have their intake in the exact same location as the OEM intake.
All I'm saying is I think you're going to chase your tail. Unless you want to add an intercooler and override the heater core hoses I don't think you're going to see very cold intake temps.
