I found this online looks pretty cool and is cheaper than a snorkel!

u can make that for about 20 bucks in pvc pipe and it will look the same and can make it how u want it to fit your needs. but it is pretty awesome

x3 with looking like crap
if your going to do it, just make it come out of the cowl area - looks cleaner and more like it should fit instead of in the middle of your hood.
plus as said before, that thing is seriously overpriced
i pieced the same thing together, have yet to install it, for about $75
went to tractor supply for the pre-cleaner ($45) and air filter ($20) then just used flex hose everywhere else.
if your going to do it, just make it come out of the cowl area - looks cleaner and more like it should fit instead of in the middle of your hood.

And take a minute to think about its location... unless your jeep is a mall crawler, any lunging into puddles of mudholes is going to lead your engine flooded. plus the gain of hieght is only a few inches.
The idea was good in originality, but for practicality, and on that site, price level, it failed. But if it's a mall crawler, and you are into it, go for it, but I'd built it for less instead.

Fab up one of those instead. Unless you use your XJ like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang i'm sure you would be fine with a hood-based snorkel.
