Thats for sure! Haha well i figure out by taking two hots and linking them to one the radio finally gets power! However...no sound. I assume this is because the wiring coming out of the car dosent correspond with the labels on the harness....Guess i will test each one individually....

confirm constant power on red/white with key off...confirm power to purple/white with key in run position... confirm ground by hooking test light to black and red/white ......wires from factory harness must then be cross to wiring chart that came with adaptter then from adapter to radio harness

I had very similar problem hardwiring my radio to my jeep. it is a 1988. There were two wires i had to wire together, one was called the illuminator. No power til I got them both hooked into one. The other thing that drove me nuts... unlike new cars, where both wires are the same color for a speaker and one has a black line... in older jeeps, a green wire and a white wire can both go to one speaker, and the white wire with a black like goes with an orange wire to another speaker and a green with a black line goes with another wire to another speaker...

Make sure you have the wiring set-up for your jeep, and the book for your streo, as you will have to cross reference about 50 times to get the wiring right.

I wil;l edit my post later today when I find the papers I used.
Also, what year and model is your jeep?

Ok so after about an hour or so or rewiring and testing every possible solution I finally get everything working, sound and all. But just before I am about to screw the radio in, I open my back door and the speakers just stop working...but the radio is still powered on and playing the cd. Now im not talking about the trunk, its the back doors. The radio is playing then I open either door and the sound stops and the raido stays on. What is the problem???

Nevermind that was exactly the problem. I re-did it and they're now working, Thanks.

hey guys I just purchased a 95 xj and it has no stereo, what install kit are you guys running. I purchased the scosche brand from walmart tons of times for other installs but I noticed that the one for the xj and the one for the yj are the same, and when I went to install it in my yj the instructions are horrible and I just ended up using a lighter to hold it in place so it wouldn't bounce around.
