Default Installing after market oil temp gauge

Hey i was looking to install an oil temp gauge in my 97 jeep cherokee and was wondering the best place to come off the gauge.. since the 97 only has idiot lights im installing different gauges.. i dont really want to go off the oil drain plug in fear that i will rip it off while wheelin' and i also already used the spot on the passenger side where my oil warning light for my oil pressure gauge.. any way i could maybe splice into that too? or is there another spot that would better? Please help..Thanks

if you dont want to use the idiot lights any more, just pull the sending unit for that and install the new one there.

Buy a adapter to put under your oilfilter, that adapter have many extra holes for temp sensor, pressure sensor etc. Something like this http://www.biltema.no/ProductImages/.../32-2005_m.jpg
I dont know if its possible on your engine, but its looks easy to do.

its a universal that i bought from advance auto. i figured out where i wanted it marked the pillar. removed it then used a map gas torch to heat it up and remold it to fit. i recommend a oven mitt when remolding it tends to get a little hot.

I'm about to add an oil temp gauge too, but do you remember what Tee you bought, i.e. what the threads are? I don't want to pull my factory sender to find out thread/pitch just to wait another week for a Tee to arrive.

Thanks!

The factory sender and idiot light is for oil pressure not oil temp, but you can still use the same port for an oil temp gauge. You can put a tee in so you can use both the factory sensor and the aftermarket one.

Yes sir, that's what I'm looking to do. I was just hoping to find out if the factory oil pressure sender is 1/4 NPT or some crazy metric? This way I can get the tee ordered and do it all at once. Thanks!
