Am doing away with my stock fuel tank and upgrading to a fuel cell in the cargo area of my Cherokee. My question is... What inline fuel pump should I use to match the stock fuel pumps PSI/ GPH? I have done some searching on the matter and can't find the stock specs...
Any input would be great!

My parts Jeep had a homemade/aftermarket one on it, and it used the regular pump with two inline filters and a sending unit in the tank. That would be the best way to explain it
RCI makes a fuel cell that a jeep Yj 4.0 fuel pump slides right into.
If you want an inline pump though, there is a ford inline pump that people often use off of the earlier ford fuel injected trucks. plenty of info on pirate4x4.
Just make sure the specs are the same, or slightly higher than stock specs of your jeep.
If you are on a budget and have some fab skills you can also just relocate the stock fuel tank and pump into the cargo area and box it in.

Still doesnt really answer my question... I really just need to know what the STOCK SPECS on the STOCK fuel pump are. What PSI/GPH is the stock pump?
I really dont want to do an "in tank" pump again, as i HATE messing with those things, but my real goal is to just make everthing easily accessable for quick diagnosis and repair if needed.

Fuel Pressure for a 97 xj 4.0 is:
Engine at curb idle 49.2 + or - 5 psi
Fuel Pressure Drop (pump not engaged) Not fall below 30 psi for 5 minutes

But where is that pressure being checked? At the fuel rail AFTER the regulator?
Just called Delphi and they said the stock pumps produce the following numbers...
MAX Static Pressure (PSI): 70-80 psi
MAX GPH: 35-40 Gallons per hour
Which translates into Walbro Inline Fuel Pump language as...
Any "high pressure" pump they offer in a 155 LPH (liter per hour) flavor.

I would like to use something reputable and not from some old P.O.S. Ford. LOL

pressure is checked at the service port in the fuel rail. Theres a regulator there, as long as the pressure of the pump exceeds the 49.2 psi you are good to go.
and if you want reliability and ease of maintenance I would go with the rci cell and yj fuel pump. Its not like its difficult to replace a top loading fuel pump when its all sitting right in front of you. It will be super easy to wire in, and will have the same pressure as stock.
But the ford pumps are used by tons of people without issue. many aftermarket vendors make them, some are better than others, and they are pretty cheap as well. if you search pirate or naxja enough you will find a part number. i think its a couple letters followed by "2000"

Not sure what type of wheeling you do but in tank pumps run cooler, and don't vapor lock like the inline pumps do on long hot wheeling days.
My opinion the RCI, YJ pump would be a much wiser way to go.

What size tank do you have to have for the yj fuel pump? This tank fell in my lap and just wondering if I can go that route..
