I need to replace my rear leafsprings on a 95 xj so i figured i would improve it front and back. what can i do to make it better for light offroad use and be a dd. i want as simple to do upgrades with not a bunch of cutting and welding . thanx

Do you want to lift your XJ?
If yes, How much?

Planning on larger tires?
What size?

There are so many options from mild to "OMG...That's INSANE!!"

The more info you can share about what you'd like to end up with, the better the advise you'll receive.

no more than 3in lift, a bigger tire for more traction dont want to have to change any gear ratios it will be used mainely on personal hilly ground no real rough ground clear established trails and road use need something to imp the traction and ride

My recommendation would be a kit with full leaf packs since you said you want to replace your leafs.

do you have a recomendation on tires size and tread

I'm not a big fan of All-Terrain Tires unless they have a very aggressive tread pattern. Mickey Thompson ATZ come to mind.



General AT Grabbers are worth a look as well.


Size can be a bear to decid e on, no doubt about it.

Too small and your ground clearance may not be what you want.
Too tall and you'll need to regear.

I'd recommend a 31 if you want to stick with stock gearing. Anything bigger and your performance will suffer even more with stock gears.
