im very mad,Please help me, find out what kind of rear shocks i need for my lifted xj
i have had nothing but problems trying to get new rear shocks for my used xj i have bought. the rancho ones i ordered were suppose to fit for up to 3inch lift, it was sold to me as a 2inch lift, i have no idea if thats correct or do i know what kind of lift kit was installed. I just had to pay canadian tire 100 bucks to try and put the ranchos on, they were 1.5 inches too ****ing short. im so pissed off. now im riding around with no rear stinkin shocks. i now have the old shocks, they are real dirty and worn out but i have read some numbers
THE TOP NUMBER IS ( I CANT MAKE OUT A FEW NUMBERS AFTER 50 LAST 4 NUMBER ARE 6714)
32250 6714
EXPLORER
BOTTOM NUMBER
X141D3
I can't find anything online about these shocks. Please help me. so far i have had no luck with these jeep.

is your jeep lifted with coil spacers or longer coil springs?
here's an idea for your rancho shocks.

hi, thanks for the message.
coil spacers or longer coil springs? honestly i have no idea. i think coil spacers, as theres no big spring looking things in the rear, only in the front. im an idiot. whats the difference and can i check but looking underneath the jeep?
looking into it further i think PRO COMP makes these explorer shocks that were on the jeep ?

Do you own a tape measure. Crawl under the jeep and start measuring. Best way is to flex the jeep out with no shocks on and get you compressed and flexed sizes. Or just measure standing height from shock eye to mount. Then you can check website for corresponding shock sizes. Dont go by what people say

Get out a tape measure. Measure axle tube to frame and report back. As for the Rancho shocks double check the part number. You may have received the wrong ones.

If it still has the stock fender flares and is truly a 2 inch lift then if you measure from the bottom of the rear fender flare to the center of the wheel(on the center cap) it should be 19 inches I do believe(stock height should be 17 inches) front is stock 17.5 inches measured the same way so 19.5 inches if lifted 2 inches.

DO NOT spend any more money until you know EXACTLY what shocks you need. Remove your shocks and flex the suspension fully, then measure between the mounts so you know what extended and collapsed lengths you actually need.
Once you've got the measurements...

thanks guys. i have the old shocks, so when i buy a measuring tape, im going to measure the shocks extended and compressed so i know the exact length i need.
the one shock the idiots at canadian tire tried to install is a bit scratched up, so im not sure ill be able to return it. probably just the one, but what good is one shock to me if i plan to sell them second hand?
i wonder if they would fit on the front? the front shocks seem shorter, i think. seems more lifted in the rear, you think that might work ?

i might add that i measured the shocks from the middle of the mount hole to the middle of the mount hole on the other end of the shock, will be close to 25 inch if u measure entire shock.
