I think the 4, 6, 12 hole injector upgrade is a myth

If you are upgrading your injectors for more hp, guess what, don't listen to the guy on facebook who claims more power with his injectors.
Like a few people have already said, new, rebuilt, better injectors will give you a smoother idle, acceleration and some people claim better mpg. If you buy injectors off of anyone telling you that you will get more hp and better mpg run because they just want your money.
Ryan tuned my XJ and he told me the same thing, that injectors will not get you more hp and he is right.
If you are using at least 16 year old injectors and want to replace them there really is no reason not to go with four hole injectors. New stock injectors will most likely cost you more than a good set of four hole rebuilt injectors.

I've said before and I will say again. The Cherokee is allot closer to a farmall than a ferarri. The shape of the port along with injector location and the heat of the intake and head just isn't efficient enough to be that fussy . It really doesn't make that big of a difference. Idle quality maybe, but anything with driveability is negligible. I did bigger injectors with a 4-hole pattern in my volvo turbo and it made no difference other than the little bit of extra fuel. In conclusion if your need to replace them anyway go hog wild but to do it as an upgrade I would say save your money for something else that is proven to make a noticeable difference like exhaust.

Injectors
I mistakenly bought cheap four hole
injectors on eBay for my 2000 XJ. Now it is hard to start 3-4 cranks when warm and the gas mileage has dropped by about a 1 mpg. I got a replacement set with the same results except now my Jeep continues to throw 0175 misfire codes. I’m going back to OEM as soon as I can, not worth the hassle for the “upgrade” IMO.

Definitely not operator error Cummings, just exactly as I stated I bought cheap injectors and am now paying the price. I have been a C130 mechanic for 15 years so I’m pretty sure I can properly install a set of XJ injectors guy.

Well you know the AMC L6 is a tractor engine and the Jeep XJ is pretty much a C130. I'm not your guy, friend.

Cummins you have no friends I am sure. Well maybe with the exception of your two buddies above you commenting about things I never said. I can’t believe how negative this forum has become.
