If this is for your '89 XJ, when were your brake lines last replaced? If they are original lines, they are 25 years old...and rubber degrades over time. If you are lifting the Jeep, might as well get longer lines just in case...they YJ lines cost the same as XJ lines.
I've got an '88 and my lines are getting replaced as soon as I get money for it all...

At 3" of lift stock brake lines are fine just loosen them up some that is all I had at 3", never any problems off road.
I had a TC drop at 3" when I went to 4 1/2" not worth a crap. It needed an SYE and had shims installed at the same time, also bought a new driveshaft cut to length with larger joints and the front shaft rebuilt.
It seems like every time I do anything half a**ed it ends up costing me twice as much if I had done it properly the first time. I guess with me its just "Murphy's Law" applied and costs too much money.
