Default I have an idea!

I am thinking of taking a remote oil filter adapter that I have sitting in my garage and plumbing my trans lines to it. And then from the adapter to a larger trans cooler and then back to the trans. I am planning on making a jy run this week for the cooler and was wondering if anyone had any input on this idea. My reasoning is because it adds more fluid capacity and extra filtering is never bad, and a bigger cooler because well, transmissions always work better when they dont get hot. Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Sound interesting. Lets see how this goes.

Don't you think the oil filter would cause more pressure on the flow of the fluid? And I don't know of the oil filter are designed to filter the Trans fluid since the viscosity is different

Subbed. In theory it sounds great. The trans fluid shouldn't have a problem with running through the filter because it's thinner than oil. As far as if the filter will make a difference who knows but it would be a secondary filter anyway. Just my .02

Ya it was just an idea i was kicking around. Because with the filter and extra line it would also increase the capacity of the fluid a bit without having a deeper pan and it would keep other junk out of my trans cooler. And like stated above, an extra filter never hurt anything. Haha

Im thinking of a trans cooler out of a full size truck. So it's a lot larger, would there any be any issue if I did something like that?

No it won't be an issue. I used the one from a full size Chevy cargo work van. Works good

External Trans filters have been used for years. They will cause no problems with flow or pressure. They are a good idea to use. But, they only need replaced maybe every 40k miles.
