hubs and 4:1 low
found a bunch of info on 4:1. almost 50% torque increase. its supposedly a B to install it. only like $270 for a tera low conversion yeah?
lets hypothetical it and call my rig an 80% of the time DD. I6 AW4 231 33's or 35's with 4.56 or 4.88 hpd30 xj44. lunchboxes. stock axle shafts
would you do it? worth it for the gas? I dont see a lot of 4:1 low on this site
as for hubs on the 30. jesus thats an annoyance. not swapping it out. I dont want a chromo kit. someone please tell me there is an easier way
or a way to buy individual parts for it so I can just collect as I get payed

If you can get a tera low kit for 270 jump on it. Since they sell for 1300 new. As for hubs don't waste your money on the conversion kit and if you do don't get the 5x4.5 bolt kit because it's weaker than your unit bearings. I've found with the folks I know running a 4.1 that it's a bit too low for regular trail riding but good for crawling. It's not going to affect your gas mileage since you don't use low range on the street.

no no I was just googling 4:1 conversion kits and saw a price for $270. I was probably mistaken
4:1 isnt too high on the list of priorities. what do you guys think about used d30 hub components if I can find some

Doubt you'll find any used D30 hubs that'll work on an XJ D30. Early Broncos and AMC era Jeeps used D30s but they were a different axle and don't swap over. I ran an Aussie front and rear in my stock axles for about 5 years and didn't have any issues on the road. In 2wd you don't know it's there except in sharp turns at low speed you can hear them ratchet.
