Default HP D30? Any Year Better Than Another?

Ok so i'm looking to replace my LP D30 and I just picked up a D44 off of an 87 and I was wondering if the HP D30's were the same in all years or if a 97-99 would be better to grab? Any info would be great, thanks.

96-99 are generally said to be the best. They are non-CAD, and come with the bigger 297 u-joints

$200 is fair depending on condition.

I haven't paid for it of picked it up yet. they are just holding it for me? should I try to get it for less? I'm not sure on the condition yet. What would be a good price on a 96-99 HP d30

Always try for less, at least I do. And $150 ball park on the HP30.

I'd say around 100.. I've never paid more than that on the 3 HP I've bought to put in an XJ
