I have a np231 that has supposedly been regeared...before I sell it how can tell if this has been done so I can accurately describe it to the buyer? As always thanks.

Tera Low makes a 4:1 Planetary gear set, but its about $1200 new. I would assume you would have paid more when you bought the jeep if it had been regeared.

Is it out of the jeep? if so put it in 4 low and turn the front input. Count how many times the front input rotates before the output rotates once.

Yes its still in the jeep. Dumb question, but I have never dealt with these things, I am assuming that the front input is where the DS leaves the TC and the output is entering the front diff??

Input- where the trans connects to tc

Output- where drive shaft leaves tc

If the front half of the case looks like this then it's been regeared.

Great! I will look at the TC when I get off work in the morning. What's the benefits of this? And if it is would there be any upgrades to the tranny?
