If you're going to run bigger than 35s, save your money on both, you're gonna need 3/4 or 1 ton axles front and rear. Big money to do right. Keep what you have now and start saving...
Well im not sure yet, I think I am good now with 35s, but was just wondering about getting a stronger axle, upgrading the 8.25 sound like a lot of trouble, but getting the 8.8 would give me 31 splines and disc brakes which i thought was a better choice, but apparently I was wrong according to what most of you say about just keeping the 8.25 and upgrade it.
Well I am really new to this, so at the begging nothing too extreme right now, but In the future maybe I will, not rock crawling or anything like that at the moment. I will also use it everyday for daily use. I just dont want to have to swap stuff later on.

So, daily driver, weekend warrior. Got it.
What lift do you have installed, did you go long or short arms, have you done a SYE, upgraded the steering, any of this?

Your saying daily driver... and then say 6.5" lift and also say in the same breath short arms.
If your truly doing this as a daily driver then I'd say leave it as is... put some 32s or 33s on it and enjoy it and put the money else where... lockers.. long arm.. etc.
Before you go looking at a 8.8 axle you need to look at your current vehicle from a complete stand point.

35s on stock gears is gonna suck, it's bad for mpg, hard on your motor and transmission, as it changes the rpms and shift points...I agree with dropping tire size, or regearing. Realize when you do regear you have to do front and rear. Gear sets front and rear, installed, is going to be a couple thousand on average. Dropping to 33s is easier on the pocketbook, and you can sell the 35s to recoup some of the cost.
