I did three inch from the intake tube under the hood and than two inch outside.

Took an auto zone air filter and gorilla glued it inside a 3"-2" reducer coupling.

Under the hood a have a three inch T with a two inch stub out so I can put the filter under the hood when it's raining or not deep water. It's a great set up for around 40 bucks. I'll post some pics when I get home later. Don't get me wrong its not the prettiest set up but on a 500$ mud truck it works just fine.

Don't run 3 all the way it's too much. My friend has the same setup as me with 3 all the way and he just doesn't get the proper pressure.

this is 2", it is the same area as the front hole in the air box, which I sealed off. It goes into the cowl, in this picture the last 90 is not on it yet.

The better flow of intake/exhaust makes the engine run better/easier. Going to a larger intake tube wouldn't "hurt" anything. I'm not saying that 3" is going to make any improvements but it sure wouldn't decrease efficiency.

Ok buddy. I'm not just making this up, having the two jeeps running next to each other it's easy to tell that the bigger diameter pipe doesn't run as well.

I see what your saying, but I know what I experienced and what your saying isn't always so. Just like if you put a 4" diesel exhaust on a jeep it's not going to perform that well.
