I'll agree with you on the management setup - RENIX beads OBD-I handily, and edges past OBD-II in terms of "tech-friendliness" (using the proper definition of "tech" - and not the current "parts monkey who lets the computer do the thinking for him.")

Then again, I came up on Corvettes and Camaros made before 1974 - which is before electronic ignition became common!

Pre-OBD setups rock - because they're more flexible. OBD-I is/was a pointless waste of time (it was mandated by CARB, after all...) and the saving grace of OBD-II is the standardisation mandated by SAE (probably because they got tired of it and said "We'll take over from here.")

Not to drag this even further off topic ( ) but I have just been more experienced with the open loop style system. I've got a few nice tools that work with it specifically, and its just an easier system to deal with. Thats pretty much the only reason I prefer it on my 87 XJ.

I agree with you on everything else, though.
