HIDs? I really need the word of the wise
here's what ill tell you about HID's unless you spend some money and ALOT! of time. you will never get %100 of what they have to offer. if you get the right parts and kits. youll be able to put the sun in front of you when your driving. dodge all of the glass and nails and other stuff in the streets, youll beable to light up cop cars a block away.
hids are very powerful. when there done right all youll want to do is drive at night. BUT! if you dont want to spend the $500+ and 25+ man hours to make them right. Autopal E codes, upgraded harness and a good set of bulbs will be fine. do the same for your fogs and youll be golden.
what would $500 in hid's get you?

If you go hid do a proper projector retrofit, Otherwise buy some E-code h4 housings, upgrade the headlight harness and throw in some decent bulbs !
This is what my lights look like with Autopal E codes, and a putco harness I still have not added good bulbs

I'm confused. Don't the Autopals come with 55 watt bulbs? IIRC, mine did but I had a set of 100/80 Phillips bulbs in the garage so I put them in instead.

I used the kit that is in the following thread, it is plug and play and I am very satisfied with them. They have not flickeried or had and problems. It is a really straight forward mod. This is by far the BEST thing I have done to my jeep.....this should come before a lift or anything else...IMO...
