Default HID Conversion

I was looking on Amazon for HID Conversion kits and I found
this this
one. I know it'll work with the XJ my only question is where can I get a headlight housing? All I can seem to find are the halogen lights. I want a housing that lets you use your own bulbs. I've seen em before, just can't seem to find em now. Any suggestions? Thanks!

You need a housing with a projector if you don't want to be a d bag that blinds all on coming traffic. Either buy a set from Kris or follow BrandonSS write up and do your own.

I'm looking to do it more toward the cheap side...don't have a lot of money to through around just need to have brighter lights. I'll look at BrandonSS's write up and see what it involves.

To do hids right it will be around 150 - 200 buck. Im not tring to be an *** but if you do hids without projectors I hope you get a ticket. Its just not safe for other drivers.

Alright. No I know exactly what you mean. Can't tell you how many times I've been in a car and been blinded by oncoming vehicles with HID lights.

Is there a cheaper way for now to make the stock lights any brighter?

Thanks for the links. I was actually looking at the same housing you linked to. If I'm gonna spend $100 on that I might was well just save up another $100 and spend the money to do the HIDs right. No sense in spending $100 and then another $200ish later down the road. Thanks for the links though.

NP even the upgraded harness by itself will help.

Why not add a set of fog lights or smaller off road lights to the bumper?

Not a bad idea either. Maybe I can find a cheap set today with the Black Friday deals.

I just want to take a moment to thank you for not stuffing an HID conversion into the stock housing.. THANK YOU! We all know how annoying it is (and unsafe) to be absolutely blinded by oncoming traffic / all those asses with lifted 3/4 tons behind you that drive up your tailpipe and shine their JDM crap all in your rearview lol.

No problem. Its annoying as hell. I've been in situtations where pulling off was the only option if my eyesight was to be spared. It isn't pleasant.

Plus I've also wondered how to make the projectors and it'll be a fun project once I get the money and supplies for it

I researched the homebrew setup a lot on my old ranger. It definitely works -- there's a company in Atlanta that makes conversion kits for an affordable price, if I can remember the name I will let you know! Be careful when you bake the headlight housing

I have both (D-bag edition and Real Deal OEM Bi-xenon Projector retrofit)

The D-bag edition is in my POS Ranger, they are pointed low, at the car in front of me bumper, and the aren't powerful at all. Cheap $30 EBay kit. Better than stock, but JUST barely. I have NEVER gotten flashed in it because it is really more athletics than light producing. That was my first and only time I will do that (IT still works, but like crap)

I did a 04'-06' Maxima projector/TRS HID kit, and with Pilot housings on my XJ. Awesome performance, adjusted correctly too. Do it the right way like I learned too. I just bought one component a month till I could afford everything.
