Im in the middle of mine too. I did the rear yesterday and im doing the front tomorrow. For the rear the only problem i ran into was that my trailer hitch wouldnt let me pull the bolt from the rear leaf to shackle eye so i had to pull it out as far as i could and then cut it with a angle grinder. That was the only problem that i've had so far. With the front, be weary of how you replace the coils cause with some methods putting everything back together might be hard. Im gonna use coil spring compressors but thats just me and i dont have new control arms. Which is another part of your question regarding backspacing. Basically its how far your wheel will stick out: http://www.4wheelparts.com/tire-whee...ckspacing.aspx Stock is 5.25 in. i believe On your XJ your wheels will probably rub on your lower control arms or fender flares without the proper backspacing but they might still hit the fenders.

the rc lift is super easy to install. i did my 4.5 coils with a floor jack up on one side and another person standing on the other and you can place the coil in. repeat for other side.

I'd say do the lift and see how it runs, but be prepared for a few hiccups

Did you get the RC series I kit or Series II kit? I am running the Series II kit and the only things I've needed are sway bar links. I added a Tcase drop for the heck of it. at 3" you wont need too too much. Oh, also ditch your rear sway bar while your back there.
