Help me decide which option I should go with.

Option 1:
2" BB (spaces and shackles) with shocks $190
30x9.50x15 tires $525
paint stock steel wheels $0
LockRight for rear 8.25 $330

Total:$1045

Option 2:
3" Zone lift with coils, rear leafs and shocks $500
31X10.50X15 tires $530
15x8 Craiger soft 8s $220

Total: $1250

I am putting some money into the xj once I get my tax return. My jeep is my DD in the winter when I don't ride my motorcycle. I am looking to make the xj look a little more aggressive, be better on mild trails and for hunting, but not hurt highway handling and not have issues with driveline vibrations. Normal drive round trip to work is 60 miles. I also will be using my xj as my hunting vehicle and some mild trail. XJ is a 1996 with 4.0, auto, 242 transfer case, stock 3.55 gears and it has 211,000 miles.

Instead of getting new rims u should get a locker for the rear. U can find 3" lifts on craigs list for way less than $500. I have found them as low as $150. I'm running a used 3" and locked in the rear. Spent less than 500 all together. A locker in the rear is worth it, makes such a difference. I'm running 33 with fenders trimmed.

If he is anything like me, he needs a new set of leafs because they are bent backwards

I am looking at going with the Zone 3in full pack lift as well.

I look on the local CL all the time, and have not seen any xj lifts. I also am not cutting the fenders since I need flares to be legal in PA, tires must be covered. A little trimming is ok, but nothing major.

I'm worried 31s on factory rims will rub the control arms, that is why I am going with soft 8s on the 31" tire option

My rear leafs aren't as bad as you would think for 211k miles.

HEY i live in cenpen too. i removed my flares a while ago. and they don't cover the tire anymore. no one has said anything so far. not recommending it but as long as you stay low on the radar. you should be fine. especially at 31s. they barely stick out. difficult to tell with out getting pulled over.

CL is great for anything, keep looking for stuff and you can always get spacers if you're worried about rubbing though most say they only rub at full lock with no spacers and 31s

I would go with 3" lift and wait on the tires/rims
get the locker front or rear
search craigslist for tires and rims

option 2 forsure. you can add lockers next. also you said your trying to make it look more aggressive, the soft 8s with 4 inch backspacing will definetly widen up the stance and look aggressive

Forget the lift alltogether.

Just trim your fenders and bumpstop. You can get, at least, a 33" tire without lift.

Then lock front and rear, good long travel shocks, maybe a double shear trac bar....

It'll be amazing offroad.

I need flare to cover the tires to stay legal on the road in PA.
