Thank you all for the suggestion.
Please keep the discussion civil in this thread, thank you.
I am not going to cut my fenders, I may do very minor trimming if I have a little rubbing, but that is it. I want to keep the body as close to stock and clean as possible, at least for now.
I have looked into many option, and the 2 listed are the 2 I am looking at. The only other option is maybe, 1.5, 3" zone with 30"s on stock wheels and lockright.
Thanks everyone again.

Absurd...that's funny! My buddy read an article on a XJ, 2"lift, 40" tires...why? As the link shows, low center if gravity! Some guys try to go higher and higher. If you ain't in the mud or all show, don't lift it! It's called rock "crawling" for a reason...

My 4.10s and 31s was unnecessary! Lol! I never used 1st gear!!
But I have a manual trans, so that makes a huge difference. 4.56 and an auto isnt like a 456 and a manual.

OP I'm on board with 31" tires and an aussie locker. a little bit of flexy and a little bit of traction will take you through plenty of fun trails
pics please

Re-Gearing is not going to happen. If/when my XJ is no longer a DD, and is a dedicated trail rig, other axles with detroits and steeper gears will go in.
#2 if you're on a budget. Like others have mentioned, there are other ways to do it on a budget. I search Craigslist daily and come across good new and used lift kits at uber cheap prices.
