Help with lift.
Hey guys, i have a 1992 cherokee that i want to give a 3 or 4 inch lift. I have some 33" trxus on some 17" rims that i want to put on it, just have stock now. I dont really want to spend a whole lot but im willing to do what needs to be done. I was wondering what i could do and if anyone has any suggestions for me. Do I need a dropped pitman arm. Also i dont want to use blocks.
Thanks, shepboyrd

you prob need a 4 inch for 33's for good clearance, you can buy a rough country 4.5 for about 500 bucks and it will come with everything you need, you dont need to mess with the pitman arm, but you do need to replace the lower and maybe the upper control arms, not sure on the upper with the 4.5 but my 3 inch came with the lowers.

I had 33's on my 99 with a 3 inch lift. Had to trim the fenders to make them fit and flex. They ruber alittle but nothing terrible. All i changed was the springs front and rear, and put come Rubicon Express super flex LCAs on it but they are the same length as the srock ones. Stock break lines, pitman arm, everything was stock except the springs. If you do the 3 inch though your just wanna go higher, at least most do. I'm running a 6.5 inch now and wanna go higher.

Shouldn't have to, just make sure you put the transfercase drop kit in it. A wrangler yolk helps too. There's always a hack'n'tap sye too, I have one on mine and i have no complaints with it works just as well as a kit where you replace the shaft.

Just an option, although I would say do not do junkyard, it may cost more, but buy the parts new. I say this because you don't want to get a cracked coil you can't see, then the first bump it shears off. just do new everything, cost me a total of like 560, and looks good. Also, you shouldn't need a SYE or T-case drop, but it depends on the jeep. the 96 and earlier jeeps are more user friendly when it comes to lifts. after about4.5, it becomes more likely to be needed, 97 and newer is at about 3 inches.
***Also, the added bonus to this is, if you are like me, and money burns a hole in your pocket if it stays to long, and becomes spent before saving enough, you can buy the individual pieces at a time, and therefore not have to front the full amount.

I bought the 4.5" rough country
Kit for my old 95 ran 32s on it no problem fender trimmed it for 33s but yea the kit was 520 shipped to my door then I ordered a steering stabilizer from them 3 days later kit was well worth the money didn't need a sye. Kit I wheeled it hard and drove it daily for over a year no problems im Gona buy the same kit for my 98xj I have now if I don't decide to go bigger picture was the kit with 32s and fender trimmed no sway bars flexed great for a short arm kit
