Default Help With Leaf Springs

1995 XJ Sport, 4.0L

I posted this on another forum but didn't get any response so I came to the experts.

I lifted the front around 3" and installed the shackle relocation brackets and adjustable shackles in the rear and got very close to level. The original leaf springs were sagging near the rear shackle so I figured I would just replace them with stock and be level.

These are Crown replacements and they look EXACTLY the same! BTW there is still a stock bumper and the only thing inside is my spare tire. It is sitting on jack stands under the axle.

Am I wrong, these look like there no good. Did I buy crap? Wrong springs? Confused.

Those do look pretty flat.

Id probly take the stock pack apart and ad a leaf under the main leaf l, youl have to cut it.

I actually did this on my pack i think i added two leafs to the crown hd pack.

Cut the old main leaf so it fits length wise to about my blue mark. Close to each spring eye.

Wether you got the wrong ones i have no idea. But it wouldn't stop me from tuning the wrong ****.

I have the crown hd pack that i tuned when it was new so i have no idea how it is before tunning.

This was all my mistake. I will be able to correct the height and maintain a good shackle angle and see how it goes. It's been too long and I can't return them. It is what it is and I think it will be ok as long as I don't tow, which I'm not planning to, or hang some crazy bumpers on it it will survive. I just have the same concern as before that the spring is too flat and will break.

I am very much a beginner offroading and the plan all all along has been to build a moderately capable truck and get some experience, not some crazy rock crawler or something.

I can already by far out perform my buddies 4Runner that he has heavily modified with every bolt on mod and big tires he could find

Not a bad idea, I guess I won't take the old one's to the scrap yard just yet.

The Crown heavy duty leaf springs have a part # 4886186AA, I got two in this week and they should be installed by the weekend on my 96 XJ. They usually pick up the rear end by about 2 inches if I recall correctly.

Could you possibly post a pic after install when you get a chance?

Absolutely, a front blew in this morning with a lot of rain so I may be delayed a day or so. Hard to complain since it is "supposed" to drop our lows into the 50's/60's from our regular furnace temps!

But I will take some pics and some measurements of before and after as well.

Okay, got them done! The end result was a increase from center of the hubcaps to the fender of 2". Went from 17 to 19 inches. No more sag! It has a rake, but I will see if that bothers me or not before I look at going after the front end. I took a pic of the most noticeable difference in the OP's XJ and mine which is I still use a standard shackle. I will take a couple of full side body pics tomorrow.
