So the next mod for my Cherokee (and yes I will be broke soon) is a CB Radio that will mostly be used for talking to my friends when mudding and long road trips that get a little boring. I'm looking at the because of its cheap price. I know that I should look at Firestik antennas if I want good, not so bendy antenna. But what other brands are there for a more flexible one? Also, what exactly do I need to do this all myself. I know you have to tune it and I can get this stuff from RadioShack I think, but I can't remember exactly how or what to get. If yall could help me out that would be awesome. Thanks!

What I'll need:
-CB Radio with mic
-radio mount
-18ft coax
-antenna
-teraflex
-antenna mounting
-swr meter
-small coax

And Wilson Flex is another option. What height antennas do yall recommend? And while I listed all these things I need to buy, I really don't have that much of an idea of how to work the swr meter and using the small and 18ft coax.

**EDIT: I also have speaker wire leftover form wiring my amp and subs, so that can be used if needed.

Cool thanks. But will the tail light mount work with XJs. It lists three types of jeeps but the xj isnt one of them.

 

if u have a 4wheelparts near by they sell a cb package/kit. comes with cb, antenna, coax cable, antenna mount for around $100 or so....

I agree haha, buy my mount with antenna stud for $36 shipped or in a package for $75 shipped and package includes 18ft coax and 4 ft antenna, all you'll need is a radio that. An be had from anywhere, I recommend a cobra 19dxiv. Great reception an small size. I only have 3 packages left but always have mounts and are available in driver or passenger side, your preference, pm for more details.

 

I got a mount from you and its still holding up though im running an 11.5" extension and a 4' firestik antenna. I've been out on desert trails a few times and this bracket is holding up just fine!!!. I'm thinking I might order one for the passenger side when and if I get a UHF/VHF radio setup in combination with the cb

 

I bought a midland cb/pa for like 30 bucks new. Can't say how the cb function works though, pa function works great with a 100 watt powerhorn under the hood lol. Wired it directly to the battery.

 

Get a small one if possible, because theres not much room as it is in a cherokee.
