Default Hearing popping in the rear....

I'm hearing popping in the rear of my Jeep whenever I take turns, maybe the rear end needs to be rebuilt? I'm unsure of what the problem is.

Start by pulling the cover and look for places where metal used to be attached but now isn't on the gears. You'll find the metal bits in the fluid. Also check your u joints. What kind of popping is it? Repetitive or just one?

I sometimes hear this same noise from my front end but only when I really turn hard. On my dads truck he had the Same problem and it was his cv joint.

It's only repetitive if I keep turning. I have a 5.5" lift kit on if that makes any difference. Also have popping in the front right as well, but I know exactly what is popping there.

I think what it is is the front right shock (which is shot) and the back left. Could be wrong tho. Suspension is pretty warn.

Anyone know where and what shocks to get?

I can post pictures of the ones I have.

well get a good shock for what you are using it for. if it is just a pavement pounder you dont need a " high " performance shock, if you are crawlin and bashin it....get the good ones

I go off road every so often, and the place I go is moderately difficult. What would you suggest?

I recently found out that the rear stock driveshaft slipyolk can bind up with a lifted XJ. Mine does it, & the fix is supposed to be to remove the shaft & grease the slipyolk splines.

I have a 3" bastard lift BTW.
