No problem. Here's my write up, if you plan on going the retrofit route https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f67/hi...ite-up-204765/

A replacement sealed beam headlight is $10 at WalMart or any auto parts store. If you replace one side, you might as well go ahead and replace the other side while you're at it, because it will likely go out soon anyway. You remove a few screws in the metal trim that holds it in place, and it just unplugs from the harness. Plug the new ones in, replace the screws. Done in ten minutes.

Not trying to be a jerk, but honestly if you're asking this question, you're really not ready for an HID upgrade. Just stick with the stock sealed beams for now to get your truck legal. Then read up on the benefits of installing a relay harness if you feel a need to improve the performance of your headlights.

A week ago I replaced stock seal beams with Hella Vision Plus Housing without the harness. Pretty decent improvement but yesterday I received wiring harness. Its the same one talked about previously. H4 ceramic wiring harness that has the inline fuse. I went with that other then putco because ive heard bad things about the relays on the putco. Anyways great improvement after I installed the harness. Looking at different bulbs other then the 60/55 hellas that came with the housings though. Was thinking about shelling out the money for Trucklites but In northern pa with a lot of snow i didnt want to have them with snow building up on the headlights. I believe that there is a video on youtube showing how bad it gets.

They now have a heated version of their 7" round lights. I don't understand why they don't offer a heated 5x7, but perhaps that's in the works.

I heard about that too. Even with that they are pricey.... something to get when you have the extra cash. Which will be a while for me.... regearing in the future. So the h4 conversion is good for me.

Since all of you seem pretty darn experienced with LED's I have a simple question. I want to put LED bulbs in my stock fog light casing (which are on the front bumper) (It's an 89 xj limited) and I wanted to know if I could just put the LED bulb in without a fog light harness and the stock fog light system can handle the led's but I don't know. I am keeping the headlights stock because they are damn bright for some reason and I like a bright yellow for normal headlights but I want white led's for the fogs so I can be seen in dust while off roading and other fog related uses.

LED draw much less amperage, it should not be problem.

Where problems start is in turn signals/ 4 ways, as the LED bulbs sometimes don't draw enough amperage for the flasher unit to work correctly.

GO FOR IT.

Sweet! And what's that mod for having the fog lights stay on while the brights are on? There's a part of the relay that has to be bent or something like that. I have an 89 limited. And FYI I do know that it's illegal but if there are cops I'll just turn off the fog lights

Just did a Hella Vision Plus swap and built my own wiring harness with relays.
I'm cheap that way. Got some ceramic plugs from Amazon for about $6 and the relays were kicking around from some fog light harness I've built in the past. I've always had rolls of different gauge wire kicking around since like I said I'm cheap that way and I'll often fix something myself instead of paying through the nose for sometimes an inferior Chinese knock off.

Anyways the difference was night and day. Get it?
Before especially if it was raining I would swear I was driving with no lights on at all. Now even the road signs are visible!

Should have done this first before the lift etc.
