No, he's right. Maybe it is a jeep thing that you need spare bulbs. This is my first jeep. I'll buy more to be prepared.

You guys are too much. There will always be arguing amongst jeepers. We all have different experiences.

Also, they are not drop in. Had to do some grinding and drill a 2 inch hole for the cooling fans that are on the back.

Like i said earlier. Id rather pay double for the right thing then take a chance.

I read dozens of people loved HIR bulbs so i tried them and i hated myself for it. Better for trail rigs offroading only.

Go with trucklites. Sucks they are 350ish for the pair but worth it

Well the reason the LED bulbs sucks is due to their illumination properties as well as the housing properties. A halogen bulb is designed to reflect from the housing, with 360 degrees of illumination. You have a very narrow band from an LED bulb that isn't designed to be reflected. The color temp on leds also sucks as well, many that are white are 6k or more and poses too much blue. The higher the color temp, the less lumen output you get. Higher the color temp, the less useful the color is.

Exactly. Hence why i hated my HIR bulbs. No reflector factor lime halogen. And no one ever believes me that the higher on the kelvin scale the less lumens. Get *******es with purple bulbs that light only 5-7ft infront their vehicle

Glad we can agree on one thing. I rock 4300k hids in one of my trucks with REAL hid projectors.

I did have some HIR bulbs years back in my sten, I had no complaints on them.

Just had them on my xj with hella housing. Great light right infront the jeep but didn't throw that far.

I bet they are great in more of a projector housing or more focused housing.

If you like the look of an "all weather" bulb, try the Hella yellowstars. I run these in my Golf in the 130/90w variety. for around 4 years now. have never had one burn out.

The photo is not what the bulb looks like. not sure why, a stock photo I suppose.

What housing are you using?

I wanted the TL untill I saw how bad the the light pattern was. No way they are worth the price. My retrofitted hids put them to shame.
Also where did you get real HIR H4 bulbs? As far as I knew HIR bulbs were only made by Toshiba in 9005 and 9006.

I've heard people say some of the yellowstar bulbs don't reallyhave a yellow light just warmer. Also read some people say the yellow coating cuts lights output.

From the pic I've seen from people that installed TL,pattern looks sharp like HID.

As for bulb. They were "real" hir from China same concept but not like original Toshiba. To my understanding,a 35w HIR is suppose to be as bright as a 55w bulb. I wasn't expecting miracles but the light pattern was horrible.

Most Chinese knock of stuff is. True HIR 9011/9022 bulbs were 70-90% brighter. Seeing as you can't even buy a HIR (Halogen Infrared Reflective) bulbs any more I was surprised to see them mentioned. Anyway back on topic. This is the thread that turned me off of the TL. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f67/ju...ex8/?styleid=6

Ive personally installed several sets of Truck Lite led headlights in trucks at work, and i cant say a single bad thing about them. The cut off is great, light output is almost a pure white. There a little expensive but there worth it, and to know you will never have to replace headlights again
