Hey guys, I’m thinking about selling the roof rack and going with crossbars on gutter mounts.

I have a couple sets of powder coated steel brackets from RC laying around.

What do you think about Plastidip where they contact the gutters to prevent scratching the paint and leading to rust? Would it just cut right through when tightened down?

 

I’m using 6 jcr gutter mounts for racks I made. They’ve been in use for over 3 years. No rust issues. I did use spray on Herculiner on the mounts tho. I think using a good coating on the mounts is all that’s needed.

 

Good to hear. I'll just run them with the powder coat if I decide to go that route.
