Default give me the rundown on long arms

I have a xj with 6.5" rc short arm lift. ..ive be hearing alot about long arm systems on xjs, are they all there cracked up to be? Can I add long arms to my existing lift and if so what do you all recommend? The reason I'm asking is because I had a jk with short am lift anda friend witha jk with a long arm system. I was nota fan it was very flighty and lots of body Roll. But then again jks have coil spring rears. So I'm just looking for the rundown soi can build a bigger and better jeep,,, thanks All!

Long arms are great at a higher lift height. It won't be anymore flighty or have anymore body roll than what you currently have if you use the same shocks/coils etc and leave the sway bar attached. It will however greatly increase your ride quality on and off the road. Making the arms more horizontal allows the suspension to absorb most of the impact as it is designed to do. Take a 2x4 and slam it into the ground at a 45 degree angle (short arms) vs running it into the ground at a 10 degree angle. Off road of course you will have alot more axle drop available than with short arms (flex).
Check out the link in my signature. At the bottom are some stand alone longarms you can just add to your existing setup.

Your friend in the jk probably had no sway bars or them unhooked is why the body roll it had.

Yup. I was going to say- issues probably stem from something else. Best riding jeep I've ever been in is my dads Jk with a Rock Krawler long arm system and King Evo shocks.

The only downside I have ever seen arise from long arms is that they can get hung up on rocks. 99% of the time those situations are avoidable by picking a good path and most won't ever run into a situation like that. Here is what I am talking about though- While this one is his rear long Arms, It can happen on the front as well. That is why they usually make them really strong. The benefits greatly outweigh the risk of this though.

He has his swaybars front and rear...its a rubi with the electronic discos(plus a huge mall crawler)...but I see what you all are saying. Im pretty well off on suspention components knowledge but I was just curious about the ride quality on the xj,s... what LA kit would you all recommend I wouldnt plan on shelling out 3k on a whole kit but if I could just get the LA and upgrade to some plushier coils later

What do you want? 3 link 4 link Radius arms? Most are less than 1k.

TnT has a great kit. Especially if you want to run a lower lift height and still have higher lift height clearance. I've never had a problem with mine. I've run this same Y-link kit on three rigs. Bushings still look new! LOL
