Default Genrite gas tank?

I just wanted to get some opinions Iam trying to decide if I should get the genrite gas tank or relocate the gas tank into the cargo area. I have a 6.5 long arm kit on the jeep so I don't think that I will hit the tank but also not sure if the extra 10 gallons is worth the cash. The jeep is going to be used as mainly a adventure type rig thanks

What are you trying to accomplish?

Or why are you considering moving the tank inside? With a 6.5" lift I don't see why you'd have any clearance issues. Its not until bigger axles (dana 60/14 bolt) and stretching the wheelbase that tank 'relocation' is necessary .

So if clearance isn't an issue, the question is, is 10 gallons worth ~$1k? It is a sweet tank and well built/protected, but unless you need to replace the tank for some reason I would just buy a couple rotopax and call it good....

Honestly i wouldn't put a gas tank inside the jeep with out a full firewall between it and you.A bigger tank would come in handy if your taking a long trip off road,But on road not really needed gas stations are everywhere.Only bad thing i can say about that tank is the price the rest of i like so its up to you if you want to spend that much.

If you're doing long over landing trips and would benefit from having 10 extra gallons under the Jeep instead of in two Jerry/ rotopax cans, then sure. For what I do (drive or trailer to an offroad park and wheel), I have no use for a bigger tank. My dented 20 gallon one does just fine.

Fwiw, I put mine in the cargo area. Cut a hole in the floor, drop that sucker in, build a box to go around it. Weld it to the floor, plumb and wire it up. So much more clearance, just less useable space inside. The rear seat fits perfectly when it is straight up, but my shock hoops and cage are in the way now, so I took it out. Do a cage, then shock hoops, then gas tank box. It is a lot easier in that order. I did the opposite order lol.

If I were to do it again I would weld some 1" square tube around the lip of the hole so the tank would sit 1" higher, then make a completely flat skid plate from frame rail to frame rail.

N20 Jeep has a good write up here in the fab section. For my other idea look on NAXJA for one of the so cal users with a giant red XJ on 42" PBR's. I can't remember his name now.

Thanks for the input it was very helpful. I will be going with the stock tank In stock location for now if I get bored I can always change it later and yeah the mayjor drawback was the price for the genrite. Thanks again
