Okay so here is the deal, I'm trying to figure out what gears to run. 4.56 or 4.88. I have an 4.0 auto on 35's I know 4.88 would be better for crawl ratio. This rig is not a dd although I d like t drive it a few times a week. And I do no have a trailer or anything so the xj has to drive to and from the trails, whic are all at least 2 hours away. And a good bit of that is highway. So I was thinking maybe the 4.56 because it would be better on highway, and I know many people wish they geared lower, but the way I see it is that either way, it would be a huge improvement over 3.55

you'll actually be pretty close to stock RPM's with auto/35's/4.88
about 2280rpm @ 65mph

 

ive driven 32 hours straight at highway speeds with 5.38s and 35s and no complaints. 4.88s will be fine
