That cover does look good.

I use alittle pump to pump fluid into stuff. Parts stores have a few options to choose from.

The pump is cool because you can run a tube into a auto tranny pump tge fluid out then tear it down to service. Instead of taking a fluid bath dropping the pan full of fluid.

It took just about 2 liters.... which is what it calls for.
This is a good thing then. Answers one of the questions I always had.
But best I can tell is that 2 liters is 2.11 quarts.
I wrote 2.5 quarts as the capacity earlier cause that is what I found online but in my FSM says 2.08 liters or 2.2 quarts so.

I might by some of those G2 covers myself now. Like I need them. LOL.
But I would like to have a drain plug in the diff covers.
Wonder if the G2 for the front would be the same as the rear?

Yes the little pumps are great.
I use the Valvoline one. VV 818.

I use one for gear oil and the other for the tranny fluid quarts that I use in my transfer case.
Makes like so much easier.

I did that on my rear 8.25 Solid cover in the Spring and I was puking fluid all summer out the breather. When I did the front matching cover this fall, I measured and also made a little dip-stick out of a pipe cleaner bent at 90 degrees. That worked really well. I just filled it to half way up the axle tube. I've read that this is the correct level.

Got mine today. I should have ordered a Lube Locker gasket while I was at it so I wouldn't have to pay separate shipping.

I would suggest that you don’t need a lube locker. This cover has a drain plug, so no need to take the cover off to drain, which is the benefit of the lube locker. It’s reusable.

Generally speaking, that's true. In my case, my lunchbox locker ate some of its springs, pieces of which showed up stuck to the drain plug magnet when I pulled it do change the oil. So, now I need to pull the cover off and replace the springs. That Lube Locker gasket will come in very handy.
