Hey guys, Forgive me if you've heard this one before. I've been digging around the forums here and haven't found exactly what I'm looking for so............I have a 99 XJ Sport, 4.0L, AW4 trans, NP 231 trans case, Dana 30 front axle, Chrysler 8.25 limited slip 3.55 rear axle. Here's where I'm thinking of going; long arm 4.5" lift, 33x12.5 15 Allied bead locks 4" BS. This is a daily driver rig but I would like it to have serious off road teeth. I would like to know if I can keep the front and rear axles to save money without creating issues. I would like air lockers front and rear (ARB hopefully). Also, I was leaning towards 4.10 gears in the rear. How close to the stock ratio would this be? I'd like to upgrade to disc brakes on the rear too. How friendly is the 8.25 for that? Thanks for your input, Mike

Yes there are plenty of threads on this, use the search function (which i know is finiky) so use Google there are tons of links there.
The 8.25 is MORE then capable to do what you are looking to do and so is your D30. If you are looking to lock up your truck i would suggest upgrading to stonger shafts. The fact that you are using operable lockers its not "as" neccesary but i would still suggest it for those times you are locked up.
If you look at your axle, there should be a label or stamp that tells you what gear ratio you have. I am guessing you have 3.55s. Most people will tell you to go 4.56s. I myself have no experience with this but am also looking to upgrade my gears and after researching i am personally going to 4.56s for the extra power.
To put it simple, yes since this a a DD with hopes of possibly going off road i would say that yes your axles are just fine.
These are my opinions, others may be different.
