I've been running no sway bar for about a month with a stock lift and bad shocks. Mine has a lot of body roll. Obviously I've never been concerned about rolling it but I've made two left turns where my driver side rear tire has spun on dry pavement. But if you have a lifted jeep with decent shocks it should be fine because of the stiffness of the suspension.

I had the death wobble really bad when I took mine off for bout a week. Only reason I took it off was I twisted one of the swaybar links into trying to remove it before going hunting lol

I would first consider the area I live in. In maine we have moose. Just hitting your brakes puts the moose in the front seats. My jeep is very stiff with short arms and springs sitting at 240lb/in but I still run a sway bar just in case.

i run all stock lift and i have my sway bar on. i prefer to leave it on only for the fact it is a safty feature not a safty option. if it were a safty option probably allmost all xjs that have came from the dealer would not have (sw) the cause it would be cheaper to buy without. i feel that swaybars are needed cause that what if is allways ther. like what if you need to swerve out of the way cause a child ran in the road? of what if you kill/hit someone cause you rolled your xj? you have a lawsuit in your hands and your probably going to face involentary man slaughter.

I prefer to keep it on. I just didn't feel safe when I ran without it; turns scared the crap out of me. And hey, I figure that's why they made a swaybar to begin with. Sure discos are expensive, but that peace of mind is worth so much more in my book.
Well there you have it. IF you're scared say you're scared.
I don't run mine because I am not getting under my jeep every single time I want to flex for some reason or another.
Another reason is I don't drive like speed racer and I always look ahead. I don't get caught by surprise. If I did I never would have survived hundreds of thousands of miles on street bikes and dirt bikes.
Now!! When we going wheeling
I'm fairly new to off-roading, I've had my 99' XJ 4x4 for about 6 months now. Last week I had a RE 3.5" lift installed. I noticed that the driver side front sway bar link was rubbing pretty hard against the inside of the wheel well, and it seemed that if the sway bar was 1" longer it would have been a non-issue. The gouging it was causing bothered me, so I removed the front sway bar. I drove it around and it felt fine.
off-roading for me is taking my jeep out to the dunes in Pismo beach.
I'm wondering if not having a front sway bar is going to be ok in the sand?
I've read alot of discussions about on rocky terrain and on the road, but nothing about sand.
Any thoughts, opinions, or suggestions will be appreciated.

No probably just got the order of the hardware wrong. Look at the second picture. It looks like the swaybar link is pointing to the right, not straight down.
I'll post a picture tomorrow for ya.
