Getting RaceJeep's lowered suspension straightened out.
Now-
Front-cut 3" lift springs ?lb/in, 1" front isolator spacers for ride height, cut bump stops, Bilstein shocks, ADDCO 1.125" sway bar
Rear-2 composite leafs, reverse arch, about 475lb/in, 1" lift block to get ride height, cut bump stops, custom under axle ADDCO 0.875" sway bar, Bilstein shocks
Handles soo much better. It seems to drop the front outside on hard turns and lift the rear inside tire.
I think that we need heavier front springs.
Does anyone know the spring rates of any of the available XJ front springs?
Stock-?
Rusty's 4.5" - 150lb
Rusty's 6.5", 8.5-9", HD 3" - 180lb
TNT 5.5" - 201lb
Iron Rock?
Bronco?

Thanks.
Here is a good explanation on cutting springs to lower-
http://www.eatondetroitspring.com/cutting-coil-springs/
"The first thing you need to know is that cutting a coil spring will not only lower the vehicle, but it will also stiffen the spring making the ride and handling a bit firmer. But this is a good thing because lowering a vehicle reduces the amount of suspension travel. A stiffer spring will help reduce bottoming out."
This 'stiffer' when cut is good for me. I just need a starting reference point. How much stiffer when cut? IDK? But at least I know where I am starting at for some sort of reference.
Maybe taking the spring rate and the number of coils and comparing that number to the cut coil number will give a better reference/comparison.
A 200lb/in spring with 10 coils, 1" movement requires 200lbs and each coil moves 0.1" with 200 lbs. If this coil is cut in half, to 5 coils, that same 1" movement will require 0.2"/coil compression and that will require 400 lbs for 1" compression. So now the same spring when cut is rated at 400lb/in. The spring material/thickness is the same, but the spring rate is different.

I ordered some RE 1358 7.5" lift 213 lb/in springs off Amazon $130 free shipping. These are like the longest and heaviest available.
My thought is that if I cut them in half it will double the spring rate to about 425 lb/in. (rears are 475 lb/in). I am not quite sure what the resting length is that I need to lower RaceJeep, just have to pull the ones on there now and measure them.
This will be another trial and error experiment for RaceJeep.
Kinda of a weird/backwards concept to use 7.5" lift springs to lower a XJ.
