I disagree with your disagree. Having several friends with leaf sprung front Yotas (and hi steer), I've witnessed the downsides first hand. All of them have experienced:

- Sheared U bolts/center pins
- Worn bushings causing extremely sloppy steering
- Broken leaf straps resulting in leaf "fanning"...again causing sloppy steering

woahwoah woah, mo way in hell would i put leafs on a dana 30 thats dumb, itll be on the dana 44 when i do the fullwidth conversion, as for ride quality it does not need to be a caddy, its a cherokee. approach angle is big but not as huge as you damn rock crawlers, ill be in muddy trails in the backwoods of ak, enjoying life... I DONT CARE WHAT YOU THINK THE CONS ARE I BUILD IT TO MEET MY NEEDS NOT YOURS, UNLESS YOU WANNA PAY TO DO IT YOUR WAY GO RIGHT ON AHEAD a guy cant ask if anyone else has done it for more info on the swap.

if you think about it, its not that much work, no where near to building a 3 link or such, leafs are stupid simple, and swapping a sixty under could easily be done with new perches welded on and boom its done, beside i already have a 44/9 sitting in the yard just waiting to go under. Plus a sixty is over kill for my 35 boggers i am running for the time being, until i get 38+

eh, I've built a couple 3 links. I'll take that any day over trying to put leafs on straight again. 3 links are stupidly simple to build, the joints and track bar are going to cost you though.

you never mentioned you were doing it to a 44, that makes a lot more sense. relax and try to include all your build information next time, that's kind of a key factor. "axle swap" is pretty vague

Sometimes things blow right over our heads, but when I have almost everything to do a full leaf swap laying around, why not? plus its something you do not see everyday.

I would still put a track bar up front too. Plus you will have to figure out how you are going to mount the front leaf mounts to the weak unibody front support. It will need some beefing up to handle the stress. To each its own, I would not want to downgrade. It would be like getting dial up internet just cause you already have a land line. Just my personal preference though. Do what you please. It is your xj...

jeep is already plated all the way down the unibody, i would just need to strength up my lower control arm mount with some plate then brace across my crossmember in the front, most of the bracing is taken care of, was planning on possibly running a panhard bar, but was going to test it out without one at first. I have read alot about the conversion was just seeing if anyone else has done it lately

If that 9 inch is a 31 spline it will need to be beefed up when you go bigger tires.

35 spline axles and diff and maybe a thicker 3rd member center depending which one you have now.Look on the 3rd member for a N the other case will have WAR on it.The N means nodular 3rd member those are stronger the WAR marked ones are a weaker metal. If you have to replace the 3rd member i would look in to a high pinion for it its not cheap but will give better ground clearance. The optional thing would be to truss the top of the housing just in case.
