Front DS for SYE.... sorry :(
I hate making another thread about this, but i have done a pretty good amount of searching and can't find a straight answer. (thot there was a thread on JF with all the different lenghts front DS's that would work, but cant find it for the life of me)
I know the best way to determine it is to measure from the TC to Pinion, but i dont know the lengths of the other Driveshafts..
I have a 5spd xj with the 27 spline 8.25 on 4.5" of lift (soon to be 6.5)... i have a sye ready to be installed, but not 300 for a custom ds lol
I have read that some people use the front driveshafts from:
newer auto xj's
zj's
95+ ( ?) explorers
rangers?
(ive been contemplating takin one outta a zj at the local JY)
anyone have any idea what would fit mine properly or atleast know the lengths of these so i can measure up?

I did the v8 zj shaft for my rear shaft when i did my SYE. I am at 6" with 8.25 and ax15.
I only had 2 inches of engagement in the slip. Just keep that in mind when you get everything installed. Might be easier to install and measure before picking up a v8 zj shaft. I went custom and have not looked back.

I ordered a 34.25" shaft. My zj shaft is 32.
A custom shaft is cheaper than you think. I picked up a CJ Tatton shaft, he is very reasonable and a pleasure to deal with. By the time you replace the u joints on the drive shaft a custom shaft a few bucks more.

People say to retube a zj shaft and that is fine but I could not justify that when it would cost me over 100 bucks to retube a stock shaft (locally). When a Tatton shaft is a little over 200 bucks and I got it in a week from when I ordered it.
I might have needed a custom length also because my long arm kit did not have a manual only cross member so the trans is pushed up higher compared to an auto trans.
