Front DS install
Hello all!
So I have completely confused myself and need straight froward answers...
I am installing a Hack n tap SYE ( anyone suggest where to get a good one?) and will use either a zj or xj front DS. With that said what else do I need? Is there anything I need for the DS so that the connections are compatible? Help me out here thanks!

A hack n tap is just cuttin the output shaft, drilling and tapping it, and bolting a yoke so there really isn't a difference in most h'n't kits. Once you have that yoke on there, just get an xj front driveshaft and keep the bolts and straps you used for the old shaft to connect to the axle. Some say over a 6.5" lift, an xj front shaft is too short but if your shorter, you'll be fine

I've got the 231 I believe. 1999 4.0
As far as drive shafts go from the jy what are my options? Can I take from a d35? I have an 8.25 or do I need to be sure it's from an 8.25?

If you have a 5spd, you'll probably need a longer one though, a grand cherokee front shaft, from certain years. The information on the lengths is on the inninets somewhere.

I'm using iro hNt. Here's my setup: 2001 4.0 auto w/231 and dana 35. Jeep has 4.5" lift. Front auto ds from xj fits fine with about 1.25" of travel left. I bought 8.25 to swap in so ill lose that 1.25" travel so I bought xj 5 speed front ds and that should do the job. Waiting on weather so I can do the swap.
