Default Found a D44 question though.

So I found a d44 on Craigslist it's from jeep jk rear I was wondering if this would work for my cherokee 2000? It has 4.10 gears axle width is 65" open diff.

Not worth it. Best to stick with the 8.25 if you have it or do a 8.8 if you have a d35

Yeah I got the 8.25 right now. Can u tell me why it wouldn't work?

If it's 65" thats too wide for a XJ, that's the first problem.

Coil set up etc. 8.25 is as strong as a D44 and a 8.8 is barely weaker than a 9". IMO just stick with the 8.25

The 8.25 will be sufficient up to at least 33's locked if you have a 27 spline, and up to 35's locked with a 29 spline. The JK D44 doesn't have the same brackets, you'd have to cut off the factory 4 link brackets and weld on spring perches for your leafs, plus it's wider than your factory axle

It's also a different bolt pattern so you'd need adapters or new wheels.
