Old man emu. They may seem stiff, but after a month I can tuck and hang better than any of the other guys I run with.

Actually been kicking this around quite a bit, the only thing I don't like is how far the rear shackle has to stick out. It is pretty easy to relocate the front mount and losing a set of $45 brackets every few years to the crusher is not too big a deal.

Frank: you think those Deaver springs are worth the coin? I've looked at them but I saw the price of $700 some where and damn near fell outa my chair.
They seem to advertise alot for Desert racing stuff. Would those springs appeal to folks who crawl as well?

i thought the same thing. they hang way back there. i thought they would be a total rock hanger. but i guess if you made a "slider leaf" or what ever you call it, it might work

I sent a email to Deaver. Their reply was honest. Stated that if I was not running roll cage with tools, fuel cell and the such. That what they stock wouldn't be the best choice due to load rate. However they could make a set to suite my needs/wants. At the price tag of $750. I'm not too convinced leafs for this XJ are worth it.
Considering 3.5" or 4.5" leafs from most manufacturers are in the ball park of $200-$250. You could buy 3 or 4 sets from different vendors. Do a trial and error to find out what suites your application.
