Default Flashing Light/No Power on Hills

I purchased my modified 2000 Cherokee xj sport in January and was told it had been gone over with a fine tooth comb. It was okay then got my inspection and a few days later things started happening. Engine light started flashing and rpms went nuts when trying to go up a hill. Ended up with a communication error. The error cleared itself up. The hill issue continued, I live in a valley. I have had the coils changed and just last night, the fuel injector. Got in today to engine light being lit. It started hard then hesitated at an intersection. Tried the hill test. Started out okay but when I tried to give it gas it once again started freaking out. The exhaust was rerouted so my mechanic thinks maybe that could be part of the issue and will be his next think to look into. Help! I am not an expert by any means and am on a tight budget.

Did you have the fuel pump checked ? a weak pump could be the problem .

I had a Cherokee with a bad distributor. Burned up a lot of oil (unbeknownst to me). I had a similar problem where I had no power on hills, i pretty much had to put the pedal to the floor to get up to 50. I can’t say that my engine light was on but I’m pretty certain the check engine light on mine went out anyway. I know it seems obvious but check your oil pressure and oil. As soon as I got the right amount of oil in it it ran just fine no more problems. (I obviously got the distributor fixed).

Default Thank You

Thank you for the feedback. My landlord has been doing the labor for me so I forward this info to him. He is at a loss and not being able to fix it is driving him insane.
