Hey guys, I'll keep this short and sweet. I bought this fire extinguisher at advance today, and I was just wondering, where did you guys mount yours? (And please, none of that "fire extinguishers are for *******" crap. If at all possible, I'd like to keep it within reach. I thought about mounting it between the drivers door and the seat, but if I rolled I probably wouldn't be able to get to it if it were there, so.. Any thoughts on this (or other) mounting ideas?

 

If you roll you SHOULD be in the same general area, if not you are a dumb *** for not wearing your seatbelt.

That wasn't so much what I was worried about. I always wear my seatbelt- always -But I was worried that if I mounted it lower on the door, the door might wedge shut during a rollover, and I'm unsure if I would be able to get it out of the bracket without opening the door. I guess I can always mount it and try, right?

 

I have mine mounted on the passenger side trans tunnel, below the console. Angled a bit to clear the seat when moved forward. And it doesn't interfere with the leg room (at least nobody has complained about it yet).

But the plastic mount is broken now from the kids stepping on it when they play in the Jeep so I will need to move it elsewhere.

 

Mine is very small, mounted under the passenger seat in the front, between the cushion and seat pedalstill. Drivers side floor is the most popular tho

I want to put one on the driver seat bracket.

I know some people put them above the cubby hole in the cargo area. Or where the spare tire goes. Both far out of reach, but could locations depending on how you set stuff up.

 

I always mounted them on the trans tunnel or on the passenger side if i have a console.Always keep it close so you can grab it and use it to get out.

 

i have one mounted to each of my a-pillars. extinguishers should be within easy reach of the driver, passenger(s), or any other people on the trail who need to come in and grab them whether youre right side up or upside down. i'm going to add another, bigger one somewhere else eventually.

One in the glovebox, one in the toolbox.

 

I have one by the drivers door and another on the rear passenger floor board. I plan to add one more small extinguisher and a large one near the hatch. I don't think you can ever have too many, especially after hearing how many extinguishers it took to put out a club members Jeep.

Amen to that. My zj burned to the ground. I didn't have an extinguisher. It took a fire truck about 5 minutes to put it out.

 

I actually have one of those.. Bought it for.. (maybe?) $10 when I first bought the XJ. I plan on giving that to my sister for her new XJ, though.

I've been thinking more about mounting it right under the armrest on the drivers door. Since I'm the only one that drives it anyway, and I've found a spot that it doesn't affect me while driving (near as I can tell), I figure I'll be good as long as I find the best way to mount the bracket. I wasn't sure if I should go with self-tapping screws, or if I should actually pull the door panel off and put it on with small machine screws, bolts, and washers. Self-tapping screws would be easiest, but I'm not sure how they would hold up. Although, I guess I can try self-tapping screws, and if they don't work then I can go to machine screws.
