Default Finding rear axle shock mounts???

i just bought a dana 44 and the stock shock mounts have been cut in half and welded back together, i have no idea why. i don't like the looks of the welds and would rather just get new mounts, cut the old ones off and weld new ones on. i would like to keep the stock mounts and my question is where can i find some. all i can find is the relocation brackets which i don't want. any place selling stock mounts?

i dont think anyone makes them you could always make your own or have a fab guy make em but why not use some that move the shocks up out of harms way ?

If you're gonna go through the trouble anyway, you might as well relocate them while you're at it...

what im worried about with the relocation brackets are the shocks i have. i like the idea of moving the shock mounts up out of the way but do i need to worry about bottoming out the shocks when i do that. i have a re 4.5 lift.

you could always just make bigger bumpstops to stop the shock from bottoming out or you could angle the shock some to take up some of the length although everyone here will tell you vertical is the best (which it is ) ive had mine angled for a while now and either way it still rides like a lifted jeep

I'm uncut in the rear, when I tuck my 32's up in the well I still have about 3" of shaft showing. I have a rc 4.5" lift and if you wanted you could bumpstop that other inch

you can replicate the stock mounts pretty easily with some box tube and bolts. you can also make them any height you want. with a 4 5" lift you probably have a 10" shock. i have found that with most bolt on suspensions of that height only 7 or 8 inches of shock travel is used anyway when flexing. you could bring the shock mounts out of the rocks a good bit and not sacrifice anything.
