Fender Mods
hey guys, ive had my jeep for a few weeks now and i am in need of tires to trow on it, i currently have 31's on stock suspension, but im going to throw on my 3inch RC lift hopefully soon. I know i should be able to throw on 33's but i would like to throw on 35's i spotted cheap on CraigsList. How much work would that entitle and exactly what? google hasn't been much help at all, and im not seeing what im looking for in the forums so far.

you can get 5 to 6 in of life out of s10 rear springs. you use the cherokee main leaf and cut they eyes off the s10 pack and take out the overload. and when you get 3in springs throw in a 2in puck. you will still have to trim your fenders a little.

I see lots of decent advice as to how to fit 35's...and yet no mention of how much 35s will effect and stress everything. (which is odd lol)
Main concerns and questions are as follows, what are your driving habits and main uses on the xj? What's you're gearing at currently? What axles do you have (from what I gather gearing, upgraded axle shafts and driving habit have a major effect between driving or getting a tow on stock axles lol)
You may want to read up a bit on those topics if any of this is new or wasn't already thought of on your part...just trying to save a headache!
Other than that trim, more lift, or a bit of both will get them under there!

I used leaf springs from a 97 dodge 3500, took out the flat leaf, and easily fit 31's, and I can probably fit 33's without trying to climb, but the ride is a little stiff... I need to take another leaf out for better articulation.

All it takes is a grinder haha...however you want to make sure you your fenders before your fenders do a tire cutting job that rail buggy owners pay thousands of dollars for...here's what you can gain on a saggy old RE 4.5 and some 35x12.50's after only an hour of work (mostly with a grease pencil)
