Just installed a pair of Notch flares on the front end of my XJ. Installation went well (but time consuming). OEM fender liner was removed and of course now is too small to fit. Concerned about all the nooks and crannies that will certainly fill with mungus the first time I drive this thing. I live in the Great Northwet. Anybody have a solution or any idea of the best thing to do?
I wouldn't worry about it. I am running no lines on mine. I plan on folding the pinch seam and then coating the inside with 3m rubberized undercoating.
Well, I reinstalled one fender liner after trimming off the outer edge where it drops to meet the factory wheel opening. If I can find some material I can jam in between the bottom of the new fender flange and the inside of the flare to extend the flange inboard...maybe I can find some suitable rubber matting to bridge the gap between this flange and the OEM liner.
I dunno...but just ignoring it isn't really an option in this wet climate. This Jeep has NO rust whatsoever at present...and I don't want to get it started.
If your looking for something to fill the gap try looking at pacer flexy flares they are pliable rubber if you warm them up a bit ( I bought some to use as flares but I didn't like the look) they sell sample kits too with all the diffrent shapes
