Default lift questions

Hi, new here. I've searched around and haven't found much info. I have a 93 and 96 xj. I can't decide which one to lift first. The 96 is auto with a hitch and the leaf springs sag a little, but way better front suspension. The 93 5 spd is loose as a goose. I honestly love how it drives, handles almost as well as a car. The leaves have less sag though. The other day, a friend of mine has his smallest leaf break on his 6.5 rustys lift and gave me the remains, so I have one full pack and one without the smallest one. I really don't want 6.5 inches of lift. I don't want to get into long arms as it seems expensive and a lot to deal with. My question is, can I use some of these springs with my worn out main and get like a 3-4 inch lift like a bastard pack but with xj springs? Or could I use the nice 6.5 lift mains and use my oem smaller leaves instead of the smaller lift leaves?

Hello- You can make a "bastard" pack however you want... different configurations will give you different amounts of lift... I woud lift the 96 if its in better shape, but then again it all depends on what your end goal is... Are you making a mud toy? Then maybe go with the worst shape... Are you going bigger tires? If so, figure out which rear axle you have in each... If you are going up close to 33 inch tires, you may want to lift the XJ with an 8.25 rear (if you have one)...

They both have the Chrysler 8.25. I don't know if they came that way. As far as what I want: both will eventually be lifted. The 96 will be my daily but I still want about 3 inches of lift. My real question is can i use these 6.5 inch lift leaf springs to get less, like 3-4 inches? If so, how? The overload spring from one pack is broken so I can't use the whole things. Do I use the 6.5 main to replace my stock and use the rest of my stock leaves, or my stock main with 2,3,4 from the 6.5 and my stock overload? Has anyone used lift leaf springs in combo with stock?

My worry would be if he had abused it to the point of breaking the leaf pack is how much stress has been placed on what is left of both leafs?

Do you know how he broke it, those leafs are made in NA not China like most are and have decent spring steel in them?
