Default Failed first attempt at elec fan switch

Im using a 3 pole switch. I ran a wire from the power lead on the switch to positive on battery, ran ground lead to ground on battery, and ran a wire from the 3rd lead into my connector that is spliced into the blue/pink wire at the relay. Before I could even flip the switch it was blowing my inline fuse and sparking at the ground battery post. So then I tried a spare 2 pole switch with just power wire and the signal wire and that wouldnt turn it on...any ideas???

I could be wrong here because I don't have a diagram available, but I believe the blue/pink wire is a ground signal from the pcm that activates the relay. What you would want to do is connect your 2 pole switch to a ground and to the blue/pink wire to activate the relay. Hopefully you haven't done any damage to anything already. I installed my switch using its own relay so I'm not messing with the factory controller side of the circuit.

You may be right. Ill try that. All the write ups i found on this site weren't very good because they left out the tiniest and most important details.

Got it working! For future reference for anbody on CF looking for advice, with a two pole switch you just run a wire off of the blue wire w/pink stripe at the relay box to one pole, then run a wire from the other pole to ground and that's it.
