Trash it....
No wait... I'll trash it for you... just set it aside
In reality, you don't know what your situation will be until you have everything completed. You need to get the Jeep on the ground and the trackbar properly adjusted (and your final wheels installed if you are getting some with different backspacing). I have personally never heard of anyone having problems with a factory engine skid on a lifted Jeep, so my guess is that you will ultimately be fine.
With all that being said, I really will take that off your hands if you decide to ditch it.

I have about a 7" lift on my XJ, and kept my factory skid plate. It doesn't do much for protection of the front suspension anymore, but it is a great splash guard to keep water and mud out of the engine bay. Some of the guys I go out with who have the same size lift without the front skid come back with much more dirty engine compartments than mine. It makes a big difference when crossing water or mud.

are your control arms adjusted properly yet? maybe the axle is too far forward... it shouldn't rub. the higher you go the less it will cover.
I just made some spacers for mine so it sits low enough to protect the steering components

Maybe post some pics of exactly where it is rubbing? I can't see how it would hit if everything else is stock on the steering setup. I had mine at 7" with stock upper control arms and teraflex lowers and it didn't hit. It still doesn't hit with my radius arms now. Is the skid mounted into the factory holes?
