Default EXO Question

So here is an idea for a EXO that the wife has been wanting ever since she saw another XJ crushed flat. I know it's not a full EXO but I figure something is better than nothing. Any ideas, thoughts or recommendations?

Does that one connect to an inner cage inside the jeep? If not i dont see that thing giving too much support...

But if it is, then i think that would be a great way to make one. Also, I think the Inner/exo cage hybrids are awesome, gives you the best of both worlds.

Maybe connect some tubing flares to the sliders and bumpers for some good side protection. Like what projectmayhem did. Things will start to get heavy quick though, I wouldn't do this unless you really need the protection.

The more i look at that cage the more intricate i see it is, Did they cut the fender in the front to run the cage there? That thing is SICK!!

Not sure if it ties inside or not, I was thinking of the rear would mount straight to the bumper. Just not sure yet. As far as fenders go, I like the idea myself but the wife is insisting on BW flares.
I'm curious as to how much more weight something like this would add.

Seems like a lot of weight. Did these guys do anything to trim the fat anywhere else.

He used 1.5 .120 DOM and at 1.769 a ft. seems like it would add up real quick.

yeah I mean you want it to be able to support the weight of the vehicle on its top or side. So it really needs to be sturdy. I like the idea of it but im not in rocks nearly enough to mess with it. Although we may be moving to yuma so my needs may change.

Some may disagree with me but I like interior cages better. I have my eye on Rock Hards bolt in cage.

The build up on Pirate of that jeep is impressive. There is a ton of work done to it, from the fenders to the cage itself.

That being said you can really F-up an exo cage quickly. My theory has always been "Just say no to Exo!!"

The lines have to be so tight to the body contours to look correct. It takes alot of skill to do an exo right. And they are not done right alot of the time.

I say do an interior cage. My first cage was a T&J Performance cage. It was a very good starting point. I added a bunch to it to help with some extra security but their internal cage is really done well.

Or you can just go extreme like I did. I wonder if mine would be considered an exo or not?

Now that, is awesome. Got a little Dukes of Hazard action going? Or do the "doors" have hinges?
