Exhaust options?

Default Exhaust options?

I have a 96 XJ and I just installed the 99+ intake manifold, upgraded injectors, APN header, and down pipe. I need a high flow cat, muffler and tail pipe. (I also plan on getting the spectre cold air intake)

What are my best options for finishing my exhaust and maximizing performance with good sound?

I'm waiting for my system to be delivered as we speak. LOTS of options out there but anything is better than stock. General consensus seems to be that the same type vehicles can sound diff with the same system. I'm concerned with the sound not being extreme as mine is a DD so I started my search for a cat-back on YouTube.

Straight pipe sounds good and it's pretty cheap

performance-curve.com

Cheapest stuff you'll find and they have everything you need- cat, muffler and tailpipe. Plus CF members get a discount.

Watch YouTube for the different options and sounds to pick out what you want. Make sure you get a tip too

Here is a video I took last Saturday

I run a APN Header, Custom Mandrel Bent 2.5" Downpipe, Thunderbolt 2.5" Cat, 2.5" Magnaflow round Muffler . 2.5" tailpipe

I got everything but the header and downpipe from Performance-Curve for $203 shipped

Straight pipe on my 95 was ear shattering, loved it... But just another reason to get pulled over :/

There's a bunch of you tube videos but if you just want to test it out, go take off the 3 screws that attach it to the cat and listen to it. You can take the cat off too but it's illegal. I had it off before makes a little difference in the sound

I've had straight piped cars before. In my Opinion it's usually not worth it. I too am struggling to find an exhaust that works though.

I'm curious as to why you didn't post your question in the exhaust thread:

https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f67/al...o-here-103854/

or check out the sound clip videos in the exhaust sound thread:

https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f67/ch...thread-180356/

There's many, many options. Do your research, chose your flavor and go for it.
